News and Stuff!

Hey All! David Gray here with anther blog post! YAY!

SCA war season started and last weekend I went to Hopping Phules War (Yes that is the cortrect spelling). We were outnumbered 2 to 1 and had only two archers while they had 8. Needless to say, we lost. Still it was a good event. Lots of fun partying and fun stuff that happened. It was up in Yakima, WA. The first night was VERY cold, below freezing. However, the second night was just a little chilly. I didn't even shiver when I was setting up my sleeping bag. At one point during the bridge battle (actually was on a bridge, which was awesome) They charged on the right side so I went to hit a few of them but saw a spear wiz by from my left so I turned. Soon as I saw the previous attacker another spear came out and bashed me in the temnple. I blacked out for a second but I got back up and walked away. I didn't fight again because I was just so dizzy! Still, I think it was a win for me in the end!

Recently I got in contact with my Birth Father, who I hadn't ever talked to. I was pretty worried about it at first but when I finally got to talk to him over the phone (He lives in Alaska) I found out he was pretty cool. Good to know he puts his pants on one leg at a time just like anyone else, ya know? I have two little brothers who I never knew about, which is pretty cool. The oldest brother, Gideon, who is seven, looks exactly like me when I was that age, right down to the funky lopsided grin and the same haircut. It's pretty cool. Apparently, for as long as my bio-dad had been married, everyone has known that, somewhere out there, my father had another son. My two little brothers aren't really old enough to understand it since they've never seen me but they know I exist. It was made pretty clear that I already have a father figure of a sort and I have a step-dad so he'll never be “daddy” but I still really want to get to know him better. I've always kinda wondered what my bio-dad was like, just out of curiosity, and I have to say I'm not disappointed. He's a cool guy and I look forward to talking to him more in the future. Who knows, maybe in a few years I'll find myself journying up to Alaska to meet him... and get some fishing done while I'm at it XD (Salmon the size of a small car I kid you not!)
Aside from that nothing much has been happening in my life. The major highlights are bio-dad and Hopping Phules War. Someone in Michigan invited me out for Border War (Another SCA event) and I so wish I had the money for it T_T Maybe next year or somethin like that. I have also decuided that I'm going to sign up for FAFSA so that I can go to college. My buddy Colin has been bugging me for a couple years and I have been futzing around and not doing it. Now I think I'll get off my fat rear and do it. It's about time I put some academic initiative forth in my life! Wish me luck, guys!
